Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team:
The Ministry of Health is the lead Public Health agency on the national COVID-19 response and has established the COVID-19 Health System Response Directorate to provide oversight of all activities contributing to the Ministry's COVID-19 response.

The Communications team is part of the COVID-19 Planning & Advisory Group and is led by the COVID-19 Communications Manager. Be part of a high performing team and a great place to work while contributing to NZ's COVID-19 response. This Fixed term contract is for 12 months, to 30 June 2022.

We are looking for people with a sharp eye for detail who thrive in busy environments, are resilient and have experience working with technical SMEs to translate complex information into plain English for a range of audiences.

Te whainga poto o tēnei tūranga – What is the purpose of this position?
As the Senior Communications Advisor, you'll play a lead role in providing timely and strategic communications outputs to support the directorate and its stakeholders.

Ngā Pūkenga me ngā Wheako – Skills & Experience:
To be successful in this position, you will enjoy working in a fast paced agile environment and will bring;
Prior communications and/or engagement experience from within the public sector
Experience providing communications support for high profile, time critical and sensitive issues
Track record of delivering to business outcomes through tactical and strategic approaches
Demonstrable experience in a busy communications function, including innovative, proactive and reactive use of a range of channels including but not limited to media, intranet, e-newsletters, social media and web-based systems
